Stools 2018-2019
These post-and-rung stools were made pre-pandemic from post-and-rung stock that had been accumulating in the studio. Their construction is identical to that of my post-and-rung chairs. In a nutshell, the posts are air-dried to an ambient moisture content, while the rungs are kiln-dried. The tenons are sized when the rungs are completely dry. When assembled, the tenons swell slightly into the post mortises, creating an incredibly durable joint. All the stools have hickory bark seats and are finished with polymerized flaxseed oil.
